I watched a TED talk recently on how to learn any language in 6 months. and the speaker Chris Lonsdale said that one of the most important things was to learn what you will use of a language. I’d really like to be able to shop more easily at the local market (at the moment I do a lot of pointing) and I’m getting weirdly into bird watching given there are no exotic birds around me so I’ve made some flashcards I can use to help me with my fish, bird  and flower vocabulary in French.
