For my friend as a momento of her daughter’s first year milestones and big moments!
My new year’s resolution was to draw a sketch a day in my diary of something that had happened during that day. During lockdown it was one of the few things that helped to keep me sane, and it’s been a really nice way of recording our second daughters progress.
Finished this only 3 months too late! Did it as a series of pictures around her full name, one for each month of the year plus one on the day she was born.
We ended up telling her when I was 9 weeks pregnant, before we told anybody else. I don’t think she was surprised by the news!
We still only really have videos of my daughter saying ‘Look!!’ or ‘Want to see it!’ and it terrifies me how bad I have become at picturing things in my minds eye. I drew sketches of these cartoons or wrote down little snippets of ideas for them during the first couple of years of our daughter’s life, but have only just had the time to ink and paint them (she’s nearly 4 now) :
