A present for my friend who had twins last year to celebrate some of the highlights from their first year of life!
One of my friends moved to Japan a couple of years ago, and this summer she and her family will move again, this time to Texas. For her daughter Anja’s sixth birthday I’ve done her a cartoon of some of the highlights of their time in Japan so she can remember them.
Living in a tiny social bubble is very difficult.
This is my third one year old gift drawing so far and I have a few more in the pipeline. I’m finding having a constant supply of cute baby photos to draw a good way to mentally break from the disastrous covid news.
One of my new years resolutions is to continue doing a sketch a day in my diary…hoping this year they will be less covid lockdown related more painting and climate action related!
Our second daughter Isabel doesn’t often get called Isabel..
For privacy I haven’t included the final image, but I edited my drawing on the computer so that the twins names and date of birth were written on the tree trunk. And voila! a (only slightly!) belated birthday gift for my friend’s daughters.
At the moment I have no idea how long I have before one of us gets sick, someone in our bubble gets sick and we have to quarantine, or Belgium goes into full on lockdown mode again and we have no more help with childcare.
My new year’s resolution was to draw a sketch a day in my diary of something that had happened during that day. During lockdown it was one of the few things that helped to keep me sane, and it’s been a really nice way of recording our second daughters progress.
